A unique, permanent opportunity to join a global freight forwarding leader in the heart of Melbourne Your new company A global leader in the shipping space and operating for over 50 years, this business has grown from a one vessel operation to owning vessels in the hundreds, transporting goods across trade routes all over the world. This business is now looking for an experienced Assistant Import Manager to report directly to the General Manager in the Melbourne CBD. Your new role In this role you'll be responsible for:

Managing an import team of 9 whilst reporting regularly to the General Manager
Overseeing customer orders whilst providing solutions based on their needs
Coordinating shipping rates received on a national level from overseas stakeholders
Analysis of financial reports, sales, and marketing to ensure insight to maximise growth and performance
Preparation and submission of tenders
Working closely with the GM to develop and execute sales budgets
Seeking continuous improvements for booking processes
Distribution of vessel booking information whilst assisting line management with operational-based decisions

What you'll need to succeed

A proven track record of managing people through providing clear direction, coaching, mentoring and task delegation
Several years of experience in the freight forwarding and shipping space
Strong relationship building and management skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
The ability to regularly work towards a range of deadlines
Strong IT skills (Excel and other computer systems)
