Our client is highly regarded government organisation seeking an experienced procurement professional. Your new company Our client are a well-known and highly regarded community service organisation that works with communities all over the state to ensure public safety and security. As a result of an increased pipeline of procurement activity and an increasing degree of procurement maturity, they are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join their team. Your new role As a Category Manager, you will be joining an established procurement function which continues to grow. You will work closely with other Category Managers, the broader procurement team and cross functionally to drive value through effective procurement. The Interim Category Manager will provide end-to-end support for the pipeline of strategic procurement activities across their assigned portfolio of procurement activities. Responsibilities will include guiding the business units in the preparation of their sourcing plans, RFx documents and managing the tender process utilising the established procurement framework, procurement process and RFx portal. Key elements of the role include:

Identifying opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership and manage risk through in depth market analysis in consultation with key stakeholders
Ensuring the business achieves value for money through procurement activities
Developing, planning and managing relevant sourcing plans, RFx and other documentation in alignment with the procurement framework
Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders across the business and externally as required in consultation with other people within procurement
Driving long term opportunities within your assigned categories via spend analysis, opportunity identification, strategic stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management

What you'll need to succeed This role will suit you because of your prior Category Management experience across a broad range of portfolios in large, complex corporate or government environments. You will have sound knowledge of best practice procurement, contracts and category management frameworks and be able to prepare detailed and thorough documentation. Attributes and skills required to be successful in this role include:

Knowledge and experience with the Victorian Government Purchasing Board policies and guidelines.
Tertiary qualifications and prior experience in a similar role i.e. CIPS
Well-developed analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Creative, innovative and strategic thinking.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to achieve commercial outcomes and business goals that mitigate risk and achieve value for money.
Exposure to and / or experience with procurement categories including, property, IT, corporate and operations.
Working knowledge of contracts.
Experience with procurement systems, ideally SAP, eProcure and VendorPanel (desirable)
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills

What you'll get in return As the successful candidate, you will be offered a permanent opportunity, with an prorated annual salary of $117,579 per annum plus superannuation and will be located in Melbourne's CBD within a supportive and collaborative team. The role requires 3 days in the office and 2 days working flexibly from home, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work via a more flexible arrangement, i.e. a 9 day fortnight should they choose to do so.
