Job Summary/Responsibilities:

Help manage all phases of landscape architecture projects, from initial concept through construction, including:

• Preparing design graphics and technical drawings;
• Collaborate to develop innovative and sustainable design solutions that meet client needs and align with project goals;
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project success;
• Work with team members to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery;
• Under the direction of the Supervising Landscape Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets;
• Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality project outcomes;

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain the visual look of AFR.com, including the homepage, illustrations, graphics, and other digital assets.
• Collaborate with journalists, editors, designers and illustrators to create engaging visuals that enhance our stories.
• Attend daily news conferences and collaborate with the editorial team to identify design needs for upcoming stories.
• Oversee the design consistency for social media and AFR brand extensions, ensuring alignment with our brand standards across online platforms.
• Produce original concepts and designs that resonate with our audience.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join us as a Product Designer. Whilst this role is advertised in Perth, WA, given the roles hybrid nature we would consider all candidates across Australia.

The product designer designs and develops reusable product solutions using our products.  Your responsibilities will include the entire product solution lifecycle, from researching use cases and designing robust solutions to testing, documenting, and iterating based on prioritized user feedback.  

In addition to this, you may be involved in the design and implementation of ad hoc projects aimed at driving company growth including product integrations with third-party technology partners. 

Research and Analysis:  

Conduct thorough research on use cases to understand client needs and requirements.  

Analyze industry trends and best practices to inform product and solution design.  
 

Solution Design and Development:  

Produce scope documents for discussion in collaboration with Product, Sales & Marketing.  

Develop proof-of-concepts to validate feasibility of proposed solutions 

Identify issues and present alternatives to alleviate or resolve problems 

Liaising with users and customers across the business to understand their needs. 

Design and build configurable solutions within HSI’s products 

Create specifications for solutions including user stories and acceptance criteria where appropriate.  

Engage with the product team and raise suggestions around features that may improve solution and product scalability.  
  

Testing and Quality Assurance:  

Perform or arrange testing of product solutions to ensure functionality and performance.  

Identify and resolve any issues and bugs identified with the solution.  
  

Documentation:  

Write or arrange comprehensive documentation for each solution, including installation guides, user guides and technical specifications.  

Ensure that documentation is updated as solutions are iterated and improved.  
  

User Feedback and Iteration:  

Gather and analyze feedback from users, sales and marketing to identify areas for improvement.  

Keep up to date with product enhancements and best practices.   

Implement changes and enhancements based on new features, new practice and user feedback to ensure continuous improvement of solutions.  

Manage a backlog of prioritized feedback and potential improvements for the solutions.  
  

Integrations and Implementations:  

Collaborate with third-party technology partners to design and implement integrations.  

Ensure integrations are seamlessly incorporated into our products.  

Participate in design projects aimed at supporting and driving company growth.  
  

Collaboration and Communication:  

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, customer support, implementation and marketing.  

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.  

Continuous Improvement:  

Stay current with advancements in software design and development.  

Proactively seek opportunities to enhance existing processes and solutions.  

Qualifications  

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; Master’s Degree is a plus  

2-5 years’ experience in one or more related areas (SaaS solutions architect, business analyst, SaaS developer, technical product marketing)    

3+ years of experience researching and analyzing data; including the ability to extract, aggregate, and summarize data from disparate systems   

Experience with Agile Methodology preferred

We are looking for a freelance designer who excels at designing data-rich insights dashboards and has experience incorporating Generative AI into products. You will be responsible for creating dashboards that not only align with our current product style guide but also inject creativity into new, AI-enhanced experiences.
You’ll work closely with our product team, ensuring that every new dashboard design looks cohesive with our existing platform, while also allowing space for innovation and creativity in presenting data and insights.

What You’ll Do:

• Design interactive, user-friendly dashboards that make complex data simple and actionable.
• Integrate Generative AI elements to enhance the dashboard’s intelligence and personalization.
• Ensure all new designs are styled to align with our current product style guide, maintaining visual and UX consistency across the platform.
• Introduce creative visual elements that bring fresh innovation to the design, without losing cohesion with the overall product.
• Use Figma to collaborate with the team, share designs, and ensure seamless design-to-development handoffs.
• Design in a modular fashion, ensuring flexibility for different user types (e.g., those with or without AI-driven features).
