The Desktop Support Engineer is part of a highly technical engineering team responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for desktop computing environments within an organization..

This role will be a unique blend of hands-on delivery providing technical assistance to end-users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues. Respond to help desk tickets, identify problems, and implement effective solutions to ensure minimal disruption to user productivity. This includes receiving, prioritising, documenting and actively resolving end user requests.

There are a number of technologies that we envision being part of our future, or valuable skills that will make understanding our existing architecture easier. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and tracking tools as well as a requirement for the individual to give in-person, hands-on help desk advice.

What will a normal day look like? 

• Provide first line support for all IT related Issues and problem
• Provide technical desktop support to staff including computers, laptops, phones, printers, network patching, Wi-Fi etc.
• Field and prioritise requests from end users in a prompt and courteous manner and work to resolve them
• Escalate requests when required, to the appropriately skilled IT Level 2 or 3 resource
• Perform root cause analysis for Help Desk requests
• Providing configuration management and security compliance for the software and hardware.
• Apply diagnostic tools to aid in troubleshooting as and when required
• Perform post-resolution follow up to ensure user satisfaction and proper problem resolution
• Maintain the IT Asset Register & IT Service desk
• Learn appropriate software and hardware utilised by TSA such as MS Office applications
• Assisting Systems or Database Administrators with IT requests
• Assist team members with tasks as required and outlined in the Project scope
• Developing and updating standard operating procedures and documentation.
• Completing service requests or incidents tickets in support of the business.
• Maintain accurate inventory records for desktop hardware and software assets. Track hardware and software lifecycles, plan for replacements or upgrades, and assist with procurement processes.
• Always be prepared to design and implement security countermeasures, when network vulnerabilities arise.

Role Purpose  

You will lead design and development of hardware systems to be integrated into Applied EV products to demonstrate compliance to Applied EV’s system requirements and customer use cases.

Starting from architectural system level requirements you will develop innovative robust engineering solutions at a component and sub-system design level, applying knowledge of detailed design, material selection and manufacturing techniques for low volume manufacturing.

The core deliverable is to release designs, support their manufacture / procurement and to ensure both component and system level validation.  

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:  

• Support architecture and packaging reviews for area of expertise/ownership, provide criteria for acceptance in for each phase of product development.
• Design innovative, integrated, and unique solutions to engineering problems with an ability to articulate your design concepts and constructively critique alternatives.
• Develop and maintain component timing plans which align to master program timing.  Escalate issues with proposed recovery proposal to mitigate overall program risk.
• Support the establishment and ongoing maintenance of internal design standards.
• Undertake DFMEA and DFMA to support design execution.
• Develop and release manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Execute base level FEA where appropriate with support from FEA Lead.
• Develop and execute unit level component tests liaising closely with the Integration & Test team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years’ experience as a Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer in an automotive or related design role.
• Experience and high proficiency with common engineering tools for CAD modelling, 2D and analysis is necessary. CAD experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks and Sim solid experience would be of preference.
• Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and drafting procedures with competency in GD&T.
• Knowledge and understanding of prototype and low volume production and manufacturing processes.
• Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• An ability to transpose customer level requirements and industry standards into design criteria for execution. 
• Experience and understanding of Product Release Cycle from prototype to production including key deliverables of each phase. 
• Local and international collaboration from engineering design to component manufacturing. You will have a demonstrated capability of working with other engineering peers to design an optimised solution across an entire system.
• Are skilled in mentoring others and knowledge capture and sharing to assist in capability growth within the engineering teams.

 Other Useful Experience  

•  Experience working closely with electrical and software engineering teams on safety critical systems with human interaction. 
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Industry experience in robotics, automotive, machinery or similar.
• Execution experience in electric mobility technologies, thermal management (component and system level), body structures, chassis systems, braking solutions will be highly regarded. 
• Design or integration experience with high voltage systems.
• Experience in prototyping / proto build events.
• Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

About the role:

As an experienced Kubernetes Engineer (AKS/EKS/OpenShift preferred) you will design, implement, and manage robust Kubernetes implementations, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of containerised applications for a major banking client. You will collaborate closely with development teams to optimise DevOps processes, ensuring seamless application deployments and management. This role will be based in Wellington.

As a Kubernetes Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining a reliable, efficient container infrastructure that can adapt to fluctuations in demand. You will also:

• Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support diverse applications and services

• Automate infrastructure processes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) practices to enhance efficiency

• Work closely with development teams to optimize DevOps processes, integrating Kubernetes with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Harness, GitLab CI), automating application deployments, and providing guidance on containerization best practices

• Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of Kubernetes environments through continuous monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting

• Implement and maintain best practices for container orchestration, deployment, and management

What you will need:

• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, deployment, and management Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is highly desired).

• Extensive experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with AKS and EKS is beneficial.

• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and deploy scalable, cloud-native applications.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and CI/CD pipelines (Harness, Ansible, Bitbucket Pipelines).

• Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies and microservices architectures.

• Experience working with distributed systems, Linux software packaging, and networking/security principles.
