About the Role (Your Why)
This Senior DevOps Engineer role is responsible for bridging the gap between traditional infrastructure support and DevOps. They will be guiding and implementing automation initiatives, operations and services. The role involves performing hands-on automation tasks in a range of areas. The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for improving processes, collaboration and integration between our internal operational teams. You will be joining a high-performance team in our extensive Operations business with a focus on innovative, modern approaches to improving the stability, scalability and maintainability of our customer facing systems.
What You’ll Do
As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will contribute to the team’s existing cross functional capabilities by providing high level experience with a combination of open source and automation products.
You will be involved in (but not limited to):
- Developing, reviewing and implementing CI/CD principles including containerisation
- Establishing and maintaining operational excellence with automation across a number of technologies and areas, including:
- Operating System deployment, configuration, and security hardening
- Installation and configuration of application middleware platforms
- Deployment to Azure and other cloud environments
- Code deployment and platform lifecycle management
- Reporting for audit and compliance requirements
- Ensuring platform high availability is maintained through reliable operational change and release processes; maintaining and monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability and performance, and backup and reporting
- Stakeholder engagement through technical collaboration and solution design.
What You’ll Bring
Key Skill and experience include:
- 5+ years of combined experience in application management, development and DevOps
- A detailed understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts, and experience with full stack automation including Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Windows Server, Azure, M365
- Extensive knowledge and experience across the full Infrastructure Technology stack (Networks, Server, Databases, Endpoints, etc)
- Knowledge of industry standards , such as ITIL, ISO27001, Zero Trust, etc
- Expertise in configuration management including CI/CD pipelining
- Expertise in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc)
- Ability to adapt to rapid, iterative change
- Proven ability to mentor and support team members
- Ability to develop and improve operational practices and procedures
- Excellent communication skills
You will be given the ability to continually research, develop, and actively promote platform agnostic technology solutions that eliminate manual processes and solve genuine technical challenges.
