About the role

This role mainly involves preventative and corrective maintenance, on-site and off-site support, fault finding, project installation and commissioning tasks on client sites, which are predominantly based in the Hunter & QLD regions.

You will liaise with internal teams including engineering, customer support and the product team to share learning and influence product development.

This position will require travel by road and air to support clients throughout Australia approx 1 week of every month. Flexibility to travel is required as well as a valid drivers license.

You'll be;

• Providing and delivering technical support, training material and troubleshooting guides to Customers, Reseller’s/Service Partners and Installation contractors (on site and remote).
• Overseeing onsite work processes, checking in with Service Partners.
• Reviewing and distributing inspection reports, conducting site and VERIDAPT vehicle audits.
• Providing adhoc onsite and remote support and technical assistance during the installation and commissioning phase of a project.
• Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) (Mark up drawings post commissioning and Complete Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) (at offsite locations as needed).
• Proposing and supporting the  implementation of Veridapt products and solutions to customers to drive improvement outcomes as needed
• Working collaboratively with the Customer Success/Helpdesk Team providing engineering/technical support to resolve site issues for Tier 2 issues.
• Providing feedback to internal stakeholders and product development based on user experience and customer requests/feedback.
• Conducting site audits and gather information (Scoping, materials, labour and other factors) required to assist the sales team in the preparation of quotes.
• Identifying and creating opportunities for potential sales opportunities with existing customers while assisting sales team with technical aspects during quote phase if needed.
• Ensuring safe systems of work practices are followed.

This includes being the last point of escalation within the technical support department and mentoring junior team members in the various technologies.
• The successful candidate will be able to quickly gain an understanding of the ServiceNow platform. This is a customer-facing role and therefore it requires strong inter-personal skills in addition to strong technical skills. The Technical Support Engineer must able to work outside of normal business hours (evening/weekend shifts, holidays, on-call) as needed.

Job Purpose: 

Working closely with key stakeholders including Lead Software and Systems Engineers, Software Engineering Managers, design and test application-level software to achieve functional, safety and business objectives. 

Duties & tasks include: 

• Design safety compliant software components to realise specifications and requirements from systems engineering inputs. 

• Implement designs in a Model Based Design framework. 

• Develop unit tests and support the development of a unit testing framework in a Simulink environment (including plant creation). 

• Perform unit tests on implemented software components (MIL and SIL).

The ideal candidate for this position brings with them: 

Essential:  

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or the equivalent in experience with focus on controls engineering. 

• 5+ years of proven experience, in the automotive industry or similar preferred. 

• Experience in safety critical software development 

• Experience using Matlab/Simulink to create software components in a Model Based Design workflow. 

• Experience with plant model creation and simulation. 

• Experience with root cause analysis and engineering risk management methods (e.g., FMEA). 

• Knowledge of version control (Git). 

• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities. 

• Fluency in written and verbal communication in English. 

Desirable: 

• Experience with vehicle dynamics, motion control or ADAS systems. 

• Experience working in an agile workflow. 

• ISO-26262 and ASPICE knowledge is preferred 

• Proficient in embedded C/C++.
