As Contracts Supervisor – Waste Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of contacted waste services to the Hume community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervise and lead the delivery of allocated contracted services, for the Waste Operations business unit and other allocated contracts, ensuring service continuity, achievement of service standards, and the provision of quality customer service is maintained.
- Undertake contract management and procurement activities for allocated contracts, including but not limited to; specification development, tendering, submission evaluation, contract negotiation, contract award, report writing, contract extensions and variations, contract management, contract administration, contract inspections, contract meetings, and transition activities.
- Support the implementation of allocated actions and the achievement of targets from Council’s strategic documents, including the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2022-2030.
- Ensure the timely and effective delivery of allocated actions from the department Business Plan.
- Encourage a safety-centric culture across the Waste Contracts unit, ensuring employees are aware of and comply with all relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures.
- Participate in the recruitment, induction, and training (internal and external of the Waste Contracts group employees.
- Support the Coordinator Waste Contracts with development of the Waste and Sustainability department budget, including through the provision on accurate estimates for contracted services expenditure.
- Assist in monitoring the financial performance of contracted waste services, including the creation of reports
- Provide high-quality, professional written and verbal reports, presentations, and advice to the Coordinator Waste Contracts, Manager Waste and Sustainability, other departments, and external parties
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Knowledge and experience in developing and managing a complex range of contracts and agreements with external parties to achieve outcomes.
- Experience in the development of tender specifications and contract documentation.
- Well-developed customer service and communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and advice.
- Demonstrated contract supervision, management and administration skills, with a proven ability to effectively manage long-term service contracts.
- Demonstrated experience complying with and working to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Highly developed and effective verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience in report writing, and in the preparation of contract specifications and documentation.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Contract Management, Law, Business, Management or a related discipline with relevant experience working in the field
- Current driver’s licence.
