About the role

This is a great time to join our infrastructure engineering team as it embarks on a transformational journey to support the growth of our business. Reporting to our Service Operations Manager, you will be a key member of our fast-paced team.

Key Responsibilities:

• BAU for L3 escalations
• Priority 1 / Priority 2 incident management for services and platforms
• Performing minor and major infrastructure changes
• Take a lead role in reviewing IT environment and technically assist in onboarding clients
• Proactively provide recommendations on best practices where improvement should be made
• Mentor and develop our L1/L2 team by knowledge sharing and leading by example
• Proactively identify and raise technical issues that could lead to potential risks
• Documentation of our services and platforms as well as processes and guidelines
• Maintain a knowledgebase for our technical staff
• Improving knowledge and skills by contributing to business related trainings and exams
• Work with our Security Team / SOC on security improvements and vulnerability remediations
• Pager Duty

• Minimum 8 years’ experience or more as a Systems Engineer or similar role
• Minimum 3 years’ MSP experience
• Proven record and practical knowledge for core technologies like:
• Microsoft Stack (Azure, M365, Exchange Online, AD/EntraID, Intune)
• Backup (Veeam)
• Email Routing and Security Gateways (Mimecast, Defender)
• Endpoint protection (Sophos, CrowdStrike, Defender)
• Windows Server 2016 - 2022
• VMware Hypervisor
• Basic Network knowledge (LAN, Routing, WAN)
• Microsoft stack certifications highly recommended
• Exceptional level of professionalism, organisational skills and efficient time management (timesheets)
• Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and commercial awareness
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and familiar with MSP.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting
• The ability to deliver superior service and solutions to all key stakeholders

The role

We’re growing and are seeking a Mobile Engineer to join our global team based in Newcastle!  

You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of our mobile platform. Including, but not limited to: writing code, planning and prioritization, debugging and testing, documentation, reliability, deployment, and pair programming.

You’ll be actively working with the product and engineering team towards the execution of the product roadmap. You have an eye for patterns and abstractions that emphasize efficiency, reusability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability in your technical solutions.

To thrive in the role of CHL Mobile Engineer, you need to demonstrate outstanding creativity and innovation, have the ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment, and possess excellent communication skills. 

You must have solid experience in mobile development and a strong desire to stay current with industry advancements. Your work will be crucial in supporting CHL’s global customers across diverse brands, regions, currencies, and languages.

Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to be based in Newcastle, NSW. For the right candidate, a remote working arrangement would be considered.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement technical solutions that support CHL’s customers, across the globe
• Evaluate emerging technologies and build out patterns and abstractions that emphasize efficiency, reusability, and maintainability
• Peer review fellow software engineers' work, offering constructive feedback where relevant
• Contribute to the team’s ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives

• The core technologies for this role are TypeScript, React Native, and AWS. You must be proficient working with these technologies

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer

Compensation: $165,000 - $175,000 salary (including superannuation), employee equity plan grant & world class benefits.

We're seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services that power the API's behind our web and mobile applications. Your primary focus will be on crafting efficient, high-performance code using languages like C#, Go, Java, or Python. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design and build software to delight our customers and implement best practices for security, scalability, and operational efficiency. Your expertise in cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, containerization and orchestration tools will contribute to the seamless deployment and maintenance of our backend infrastructure. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, a passion for technology, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

About the role: 

• Writing high quality and maintainable code in a modern programming language like C#, Golang, Java or Python.
• Experience in designing and developing highly scalable backend services for RESTful or GraphQL APIs to serve web and mobile applications that solve real-world problems.
• Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes for deploying and managing backend applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and implement and maintain scalable solutions. 
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document technical designs, and present ideas clearly. Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables. Own and operate with autonomy in solving problems, always keeping the customer at the forefront.

About you:

• 3+ years of experience in a backend engineering role designing, building, and operating modern distributed systems, using modern programming languages like C#, Golang, Java or Python. 
• Extensive experience working with cloud-based applications, containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• System architecture design experience and understanding; space/time complexity, API contract design. 
• Good understanding of distributed and scalable systems - you can design, build and maintain complex systems with a desire to work on deep and interesting technical problems.
• Ability to work in fast paced teams and comfort in communicating remotely through chat, docs, video calls, and other collaborative online tools.
