Due to the rapid growth and success of our business, we're expanding our Tax services team in Sydney. Reporting to the Business Services Manager, you will supervise and mentor Junior and Business Services Accountants both in Sydney and offshore, to support a portfolio of small business customers, ensuring they have set their finances up for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, allocate and review accounting work completed by junior members, all while fostering a supportive working environment
- Supervise and mentor a team of tax accountants, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
- Assist in tax compliance for individual and business clients, including reviewing tax returns, resolving any discrepancies, and optimising tax strategies
- Act as a primary point of contact for the Tax division, addressing inquiries, providing tax advice, and promoting strong client relationships
- Collaborate with senior management to assist in the development of tax planning strategies, identify opportunities for process improvement, and implement best practices
- Conduct regular quality checks on tax filings to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations and company standards
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, conduct research on tax-related issues, and provide recommendations based on findings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA / CA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with demonstrated expertise in individual and corporate tax
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in supervising and leading a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Proficiency in Xero (including Xero Tax) and Microsoft Office Suite
