The Park Maintenance Officer is responsible for carrying out programmed mowing maintenance and improvement works at various reserves, parks and designated areas within the Hume municipality. In this role the successful candidate will work as part of a team, to assist in providing high quality, tidy and safe Parks and Open Spaces areas within Hume City Council.

As a Parks Maintenance Officer, the successful candidate will represent and promote Council’s image by providing effective and courteous information and service to key stakeholders and members of the public.

What you will be doing.

• Maintain and improve designated reserves, streetscapes and recreation areas.
• Operate Tractor, Front Deck Mowers, Trucks, Brush-cutters and other Parks machinery to assist with the maintenance and development of Council's assets.
• Picking up of all litter, branches before commencement of mowing and removing them from site.
• Spraying application with use of knapsack as required for the control of weed vegetation of Council assets using industry best practice principals and guidelines
• Ensure that work sites are left in a clean and tidy condition upon completion of works.
• Ensure that all plant & equipment is maintained to council standards for the day's work which may include checking of safety guards, safety switches, safety devices and reporting of any maintenance requirements to the Team Leader.
• Inspect / Report any damage, vandalism and/or hazards at each work site to the Team Leader. 

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experiences and knowledge in the safe operation and maintenance of Tractors, Front Deck mowers, Trucks and associated plant and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and in a team environment to achieve team goals and objectives.
• Experience in maintaining and further improving parks, reserves and horticultural assets.
• Good communication skills in dealing with staff, contractors and stakeholders.
• Capacity to identify improvement opportunities across Council assets.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and monitor works programs.
• Demonstrated experience in organising equipment for set tasks. 
• Ability to follow instructions from various supervisor 

License:

• Medium Rigid Truck License

As our operations grow, so does the number of our assets! With the recent purchase of new equipment & transitioning to a new CRM, we require the support of a Data Entry Clerk to join our Asset & Maintenance Team & deliver on a scope of work which should see you through until circa December 2024. Reporting into our Head of Assets & Maintenance and working alongside our Maintenance Planning & Compliance Manager, you will;

• Enter equipment details into the asset register, including information on old assets
• Save documents to align with naming conventions 
• Input new asset permits & information into MEX and MT Data systems 
• Populate documents & saving into shared drives 
• Check & update readings modules to correct errors and fill gaps
• Support with cleaning data post monthly audits

Who are we looking for?  

 We’d love to hear from you if you’ve had previous experience in facility maintenance across the domestic and commercial sectors. Our Grounds People are team players, have a can-do attitude, are flexible and always remain focused on safety and service delivery. 

For this role you should be familiar with operating small domestic to large commercial reticulation systems and be experienced in fault finding and problem solving. Competency in using valve locaters and other equipment in assisting with fault finding would be an advantage along with the ability to change out valves and sprinklers as required. Self-motivation is required for this physically demanding role.

Working onsite with our teams means you’ll be working an 8:6 roster (eight days on, six days off) often in extreme environments. So having a good level of fitness will help you get through each day!  

Live and work local with us!  We currently have 2 openings for permanent positions with the team, to work at a property where everyday is a holiday!.

What you’ll do:

Our Grounds & Maintenance all rounder will assist with the following:

• Premium presentation and maintenance of our grounds.
• Incidental customer service assistance with minor maintenance repairs across our caravan and camping sites, cabins, amenities and other facilities.
• Servicing pool -  cleaning, dosing, water balance, repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with gardening projects, basic mechanical repairs and painting

What you’ll bring:  

• Have demonstrable experience in grounds and basic maintenance work. A trade qualification is not necessary - we are looking for a genuine all rounder.
• Previous experience with ride on & push mowers, pruning, hedging, landscaping and weed control would be ideal
• Knowledge and understanding of basic hygiene requirements and safe working procedures
• Have an ability to work unsupervised with a "hands on" work history
• Be hardworking, energetic, enthusiastic and possess a reasonable level of fitness
