The Slabmaking Department at Port Kembla is responsible for the conversion of blast furnace iron and steel scrap into molten steel and then casting into slabs. We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter to join the BOS Asset Team within Slabmaking. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive mechanical knowledge to effectively coordinate maintenance activities and improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for maximising uptime performance and maintaining and improving plant condition at minimum cost, whilst ensuring zero harm (safety and environment).

In this business-critical role, you will coordinate and execute routine maintenance work and attend to plant mechanical challenges, while also coordinating trade personnel and contractors to deliver a cost-effective, quality focused and flexible maintenance function to the BOS

What Will You Do?

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Aggregation Manager you will be responsible for:

Grader Operation:

• Operating and maintaining graders to ensure roads and other property infrastructure are safe and accessible
• Conducting road grading and repairs, focusing on drainage, seasonal durability, and usability
• Clearing firebreaks and implementing erosion control measure

Maintenance Oversight:

• Performing routine servicing and minor repairs on vehicles, machinery, and equipment
• Identifying and addressing infrastructure issues while creating and executing proactive maintenance schedules

Team Leadership & Safety:

• Leading and coordinating station staff and contractors on maintenance activities

• Promoting and upholding workplace safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and safe work practices

General Responsibilities:

• Assisting with seasonal operations, including mustering or cattle transport
