The Team

The End User Compute team consists of deployed engineers to customer sites and roaming technicians. The team have a strong technical background and can sufficiently handle most technical requests that an end user may log. Success is measured by customer feedback and leading indicators of support health including the age of open tickets.

The Role

As Customer Experience Engineer you will provide end user support for all technology issues and request that are escalated by the customer service analysts. You will ensure customer service agreements are met and provide a single point of contact for ownership of escalated requests and issues. The role will be based in our Sydney office and at our main client’s office in Port Botany, NSW.

Your core responsibilities will consist of:

• Ensuring all policies, procedures and work instructions are followed in the interests of customer satisfaction and contractual obligations in agreed hours.
• Resolve incidents and requests within SLA.
• Escalate to 3rd party support/ vendors where appropriate.
• Initiate and complete problem diagnosis & produce recommendations.
• Produce KBA’s (Knowledge based articles) to enable the Service Desk Analysts to close more cases.
• Enforcing and reviewing process to ensure documentation is current and to initiation escalation as required.
• Implement authorised changes.
• Diagnosing issues and provide solutions, utilising knowledge entries where possible.
• Maintaining accurate ICT spares inventory.
• Providing remote diagnostic troubleshooting and checks for customer incidents.

What will you bring?

• Strong technical understanding of LAN/WAN/Voice/Security/Server/Desktop technologies with demonstrable experience in one or more technologies.
• Possess a strong understanding of ITIL processes.
• Australia drivers licence is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What you’ll do

You’ll spend your days building and maintaining the products and features that help make Chuffed the preferred crowdfunding platform for the biggest direct action groups in the world.

Here’s how you’ll spend your days:

1. Lead the development team in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality applications.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications.
3. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
4. Oversee the development and implementation of scalable and efficient PHP code using PHP 8 and Laravel 10.
5. Manage and optimise MySQL databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
6. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
7. Solutions architect a technology strategy, considering key factors as risk assessment, scaling, re-usability and resource allocation
8. Work with stakeholders to assess feasibility and deliverability of solutions
9. Understand the business context of development initiatives to align technology solutions with organisational objectives.

About You

• You have proven experience as a Senior Developer in a Laravel environment.

• You have in-depth knowledge of PHP 8 and Laravel 10, with a strong understanding of modern PHP development best practices.
• You have a strong growth mindset - you’re not afraid to take risks, fail and learn. You’re always looking for ways to develop and improve your skill set.
• You’re passionate about social justice and have a strong desire to help Chuffed campaigners succeed

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with IaC principals/tooling (Terraform)
• Front-end experience with frameworks (ReactJS)
• Experience with GraphQL APIs
• Experience with AWS (ECS, Elasticache, RDS)
• Proven success mentoring other developers

• Develop high performing solutions that scale in production environments.
• Design solution options and present these to your team.
• Review pull-requests and provide constrictive feedback.
• Work in a scrum team and contribute to breaking down cards in grooming, understand your velocity in planning and provide feedback in retrospectives.
• Understand our customers’ usage and requirements of our software.
• Work with AWS and other cloud services to build, deploy and manage projects currently in production.
• Help associate engineers improve their skills and knowledge.
• Assist in incident support and help the team resolve issues in production environments, joining the paid on-call roster to ensure out-of-hours remediation.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to develop good quality code that has high levels of test coverage. Programmatically configure cloud infrastructure and deploy services to staging and production environments. You are a good communicator and are able to address the issues that can occur through asynchronous dialogue or remote team members. You understand the software development life cycle and the Sinch MessageMedia processes that accompany it. You understand that being an engineer isn't just lines of code written. Solution options, planning, documentation, monitoring, automation and incident management are all part of the role. You have proven experience in Java with a sound understanding of NodeJS & Typescript ecosystems and exposure to front end technologies such as ReactJS.
