SICE ANZ is currently embarking on exciting growth and we have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, versatile and results-oriented Systems Engineer to join our ICT team in Sydney.

This role will support the design and implementation of complex traffic monitoring and tunnel control systems, providing a mixture of installation, support as well as integration activity around Windows Server environments, VMWare, Linux, SAN and NAS.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Installation, maintenance and architecture of Storage, servers, virtualisation, operating systems, databases, backup solutions and workstations.
• Cater to doing infrastructure coordination related to design and setup activities at different stages of a project.
• Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
• Work within strict time frames and elevate incidents within defined timeframes.
• Test all changes to hardware, software and operating systems.
• Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports.
• Professionally represent the infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects as required.
• Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications.
• Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors and contract consultants.

The preferred candidate will hold formal qualifications in Systems Engineering or Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of VMware virtualised platforms, Windows Server 2019 and later, Storage infrastructures (SAN, NAS), RDBMS Microsoft SQL Server, Linux, Windows 10 and later versions.

Other technical requirements include the following:

• Strong virtualisation experience using VMWare vSphere 7.0 and later (ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, HA, DRS, SRM)
• Solid knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2019-2022, Microsoft ADDS, GPO, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, File & Print and Microsoft Security Baseline
• Proven experience implementing security patches.
• Experience with Veritas Backup Exec and Veeam Backup & Replication
• Experience with desktop imaging and deployment solutions
• Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices
• Experience with scripting languages; Powershell, PowerCLI, Script Runtime Service
• Good knowledge of with GitLab and Ansible Automation is also desirable.

About the Role (your why)

Due to continued growth within our team, we have multiple roles across Australia. Working as a Desktop Support Engineer you will be responsible for the provision of all aspects of Desktop Services to a key Datacom customer. Aligned to our customers business requirements, we provide tailored maintenance services, hardware and software break/fix support, remote support, software deployment and relocation services.

The location of this role will be based on-site in Penrith. These roles are based in the customer or Datacom offices. To be eligible for this role you must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain an AGSVA Baseline clearance.

What you’ll do

At the moment, as Desktop Support Engineer you will be focused on:

• Providing excellent technical support in a high-paced environment where customer satisfaction is paramount
• Assisting new users with their IT hardware collection and setup.
• Ensuring new equipment, such as Laptops and Mobile phones, are up to date and deployment ready prior to release to customers
• Recording all customer contacts in the appropriate ITSM tool
• Keeping customers updated with regards to their tickets
• Using tools and processes to deliver services to customers in accordance with SLAs
• Proactively manage and maintain customer infrastructure as directed
• Initiate and drive service and process improvement
• Follow best practice methodologies and adhere to recognised ITIL processes (EG: Change/release)

About The Role:

• Familiar with Azure resources like Azure AD, Functions, Web Apps and Storage accounts.
