Job Summary
SY9 is Equinix Australia’s first HyperScale data center and as the current team move towards our customer arriving onsite from June, we are looking to recruit a Critical Facilities Specialist with extensive Controls and building systems technical knowledge.
The successful applicant will have complete knowledge and full understanding of principles and practices across relevant systems with an ability to be the Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the disciplines. Overseeing and undertaking ongoing site maintenance, they will assess unusual circumstances and use sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify root cause.
Whilst a strong data center operations background is required, the Critical Facilities teams operate in unison and across disciplines, so a sound broad engineering understanding is desirable also. Those at Specialist level are encouraged to resolve and assesses a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggest variations in approach.
The position is for the fully qualified, expert professional who will be a lead engineer onsite at SY9. Our team will consist of engineers from Graduates through to seniors and the ideal candidate will be someone who can share their knowledge and expertise with the team and help to develop your colleagues around you.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support - Responsible for technical niche repairs on mission-critical data center systems requiring sophisticated analytical problem solving techniques to identify cause
- Reporting - Reviews specialized contractual reports and activities
- Site Maintenance - Oversees the site maintenance and upkeep of Data center infrastructures according to Equinix global standards
- Assess Adherence to Policy - Ensures all repairs performed on all Data center infrastructure are according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and standard methodologies
- Complexity & Problem Solving - Aids in root cause analysis and in repair of specialized failed critical components. Devises solutions based on limited information and precedent and adapts existing approaches to resolve issues. Uses evaluation, judgment, and interpretation to select right course of action. Your work will be conducted independently and is reviewed at critical points only
- Collaboration & Interaction - Liaises with design stakeholders on design changes. Enhances relationships and networks with senior internal/external partners who are not familiar with the subject matter often requiring persuasion. Adapts style to different audiences. and often advises others on difficult matters. Supports, Mentoring and development of Critical Facilities Engineers
- Design - Validates design criteria for new principal mechanical installations (e.g. Air Handling Unit upgrade)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of related experience in a Mission Critical role
- Bachelor’s degree or Trade Certification in relevant field
