As part of our continued growth and commitment to sustainable farming, we are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Agronomist to join our team and help shape the future of agriculture.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Agronomist to contribute to our farming operations by applying scientific expertise and practical knowledge to improve crop production. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of soil health, crop management, and plant science, coupled with a passion for implementing sustainable farming practices. This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Crop Planning and Management: Develop and implement crop management plans, including the selection of appropriate crops, planting schedules, and crop rotation strategies.
2. Soil Analysis: Conduct soil sampling and analysis to determine nutrient levels, pH balance, and soil texture, and recommend soil amendments to enhance fertility and productivity.
3. Pest and Disease Control: Monitor crops for signs of pests, diseases, and weeds, and develop integrated pest management strategies to protect crops while minimizing environmental impact.
4. Nutrient Management: Design and oversee fertilization programs tailored to specific crop requirements, ensuring optimal nutrient uptake and crop health.
5. Field Trials and Research: Conduct field trials to test the effectiveness of various agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds, and provide recommendations based on findings.
6. Sustainability: Implement sustainable farming practices, including water management, soil conservation, and the use of environmentally friendly inputs to promote long-term farm health.
7. Data Collection and Reporting: Record and analyze crop performance data, preparing reports on crop health, yield, and soil conditions to guide future farming practices.
8. Farmer Collaboration: Work closely with farm managers and workers to provide training and guidance on best practices in agronomy, ensuring the successful implementation of crop management strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Qualifications: A degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in agronomy, crop management, or a similar role within the agricultural sector.
3. Skills: Strong knowledge of plant science, soil health, crop management, pest and disease control, and sustainable farming practices.
4. Work Rights: Must have full working rights in Australia.
5. Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about sustainable agriculture. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic farming environment.
