The Day of Surgery and Short Stay Admissions Unit provides care for surgical patients across all tumour streams presenting for day procedures or expected to discharge the day after surgery.
Registered nurses working in this area will be caring for patients throughout their perioperative journey: from ensuring a smooth admission on day of surgery to coordinating a safe and efficient discharge the same day or the next morning.
We are currently recruiting highly motivated registered nurses for a permanent part time or full-time positions, able to work a rotating roster including some weekends and night shifts. Within the department a variety of shifts are available including 8 or 10 hour shifts.
You will be supported by a practice development nurse during the week to enhance your clinical skills and complete competency assessments.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL IDEALLY DEMONSTRATE
âą Minimum of 12month experience in acute inpatient or ambulatory setting.
âą Ability to effectively engage and work within the multidisciplinary team.
âą Sound patient assessment skills with demonstrated critical thinking and initiatives.
âą Commitment to professional development.
âą Commitment to improvement and quality initiatives focussed on delivery of excellent patient care.

SURGERY AT PETER MAC
The Cancer Surgery Department at Peter Mac provides a comprehensive service for patients undergoing cancer surgery, from endoscopic surgical procedures through to specialised robotic surgery and very complex multi-speciality cases. The department is comprised of many areas working closely to deliver excellent patient care:
âą 6 Operating Theatres
âą 2 Procedure rooms including dedicated endoscopy
âą Post Anaesthetic Care Unit
âą Day of Surgery and Short Stay Admissions
Surgical specialties include colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, breast, genitourinary, melanoma and sarcoma, plastics and head and neck.
Specialised surgical techniques are available to patients including robotic surgery, high dose radiation (brachytherapy) and intraoperative chemotherapy.
We support patients from across Victoria, Australia, and New Zealand.
