We have a great opportunity to join our WA Mining H&S team as a Health & Safety Consultant.  Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the position is critical to the Huntly and Willowdale locations to assist in the reduction of risk and improve the health and safety performance of the line organisation.

This is a Monday to Friday days roster position, primarily based at the Pinjarra based Mining Hub with travel to Huntly and Willowdale as a regular requirement.

You will work closely with both locations providing Health & Safety coverage, support, technical advice and coaching to employees at all levels. In addition to this, you will be ensuring that location level H&S audits are conducted, documented and appropriate corrective actions implemented to maintain compliance with company requirements.

Your flair for developing and delivering training programs will provide the opportunity to create positive improvements. You will also be leading teams on a variety of sponsored projects and activities within the department including safety representatives, project SPA's and supervisors.

As a Mine Surveyor you will be essential to operational support by providing timely and accurate services associated with site development, production & rehabilitation. Acting as a key interface for the technical services department, this role is responsible for ensuring Department Mines and Petroleum compliance through best practice techniques and regulated survey standards, contributing to Environmental Health & Safety practices to help achieve an injury free workplace & reduce environmental impact.

Using a combination of traditional and new technologies including total stations, integrated Global Navigation Satellite Systems and remotely piloted aircraft (drones), day-to-day survey tasks include:

Operating from the Mining Hub near the Pinjarra Refinery, the Senior Risk Management Specialist oversees the establishment of the risk management framework for WA Mining operations encompassing, a varied risk profile including but not limited to environmental, operational and safety risk.

In this diverse role you will be tasked with identifying, monitoring, and reporting risks and audit issues that could affect our operations, providing specialised advice on risk and control, aligning with Alcoa’s business strategy and objectives.

This is a highly collaborate role working across a wide variety of teams, site leadership, internal and external audit and risk management teams, and regulatory bodies, so you’ll need to be able to engage and influence at all levels to drive effective outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and coach teams to identify potential risks associated with processes, systems, technology, and human factors under their supervision.

• Assist risk and control owners to develop and implement strategies to minimise operational risks, including the establishment of controls, policies, and procedures.
