Dovetail Electric Aviation Pty Ltd (Dovetail) is a company formed by Sydney Aviation Holdings (owner of Sydney Seaplanes) and Dante Aeronautical. Our vision is to lead the regional and general aviation industry into an exciting new,
sustainable era by enabling aviation operators to fly commercially viable regional routes in nil emission, electric powered aircraft.

The revolution is going to start with small aircrafts first, and new entrants will lead the charge. We are recruiting a specialist engineer with experience in integrating, commissioning, and testing fuel cell systems. This position will be instrumental for our initial powerplant tests that integrate an energy generation system based on hydrogen fuel cells to power our propulsion system for aviation. Our ideal candidate should have worked on hydrogen powerplants for mobility applications, like hydrogen powered vehicles like trucks, buses or industrial vehicles. Any experience or exposure to aviation and the aerospace industry will be a clear differentiator and highly regarded. This position is based in Melbourne, Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive the integration of all relevant components of a hydrogen fuel cell as part of our Energy on board system, including auxiliary subsystems and balance of plant, like compressors, heat exchangers, hydrogen tanks, etc.
• Develop conversion concepts and structural modifications for integration into the existing aircraft in accordance with industry standards and certification regulation.
• Detailed sizing of all critical elements using sound engineering methodologies
• Technical contribution in systems engineering activities for the integration and qualification of our integrated electric aircraft platforms, including development of specific components.
• Identification of commercial components, definition of requirements and specifications and supplier management.
• Use systems engineering skills, identify program requirements, verification methods, analyses plan and qualification and test programs.
• Work with internal and external teams, customers and suppliers, throughout our product development cycle, to manage requirements plan, system validation and verification.
• Support Certification documents preparation
• Review compliance of design to specifications and requirements, review conformance of project documents to requirements
• Manage the requirements change process, identifying customers’ priorities and recording conflicts between individual requirements.
• Contribute to our integrated Powerplant architecture design, as well as our ground tests integrating SIL and HIL components.
• Development of testing regime including supporting documentation and data collection

REQUIREMENTS
• A relevant bachelor’s degree.
• Masters Degree in Systems Engineering, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• At least 2 years of full-time relevant experience (including Design and/or integration of fuel cells, cooling systems for Fuel Cells, Power electronics, Balance of Plant into hydrogen energy systems for powertrains).
• Working knowledge of thermal management solutions such as heat pumps and phase change cooling for batteries or other energy storage systems.
• Working experience in safety analysis of H2 systems integration (fuel cell, cooling systems, hydrogen tanks), using tools like DFMEA and PFMEA ro develop test plans.
• Direct experience with Electric Vehicles will be highly regarded.
• Experience with broad array of engineering tools / languages including MatLab, Simulink, Python or C++.
• Proficiency with CAD systems like CATIA or SolidWorks will be highly regarded, as well as experience with FEA and CFD packages like ANSYS, Nastran/Patran or FLUENT (CFD).

About You

The Head of Department (Finance) is accountable for providing strategic and academic leadership and management, consistent with RMIT’s strategic plans and objectives, to the disciplines and for contributing at a senior level to the strategic planning and development of the School.

The Head of Department (Finance) has a key role within those Schools that need the provision of academic leadership and strategic direction for a suite of programs that comprise a distinct academic discipline. They have both research and academic program leadership roles for that discipline. About the Role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in partnership with the Melbourne Energy Institute, is seeking to appoint three Lecturers/Senior Lecturers in Power Generation and Propulsion. These positions would suit early-career academics with expertise in:

power generation and propulsion, including both numerical and experimental approaches to the study of land, sea and air based systems or
cognate technology areas that are critical to Australia’s transition to a cleaner energy future
The successful candidates will make a significant contribution to the teaching, research and administration of the Department. You will teach in graduate and undergraduate programs and take on administrative roles commensurate with the position. You will be a current or aspiring leader in international-quality research, with publications in high quality journals and conferences, and capacity to mentor research students and secure independent external grant and industry funding to support a program of research.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinate and conduct lectures and tutorials at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including engagement in teaching innovation and improvement;
Provide a significant degree of scholarly research initiative and collaboration in the specific discipline;
Build and foster partnerships with industry, government, collaborators at other Universities and other stakeholders that contribute to the engagement of teaching and research in the wider community engagement.
Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate for this role is a dynamic academic with expertise in power generation and propulsion or related fields, demonstrating leadership in research, a strong publication record, and a passion for mentoring students and contributing to the academic community. We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The expected start date of this position will be as soon as possible.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

Plan, design, develop, and oversee the installation of electrical system in water treatment and distribution facilities.
Design and decide the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and other LV switchgear components.
Interpret the specifications, drawings, standards and regulations relating to electric power equipment and use.
Create and maintain documentation, including engineering drawings, design specifications and technical reports.
Define a technical product support process in the countries and if needed, different levels of product support.
Teach and supervise junior electrical engineer in the same department.
Coordinate and supervise the regional sales and service teams to support the supply, delivery, installation, and maintenance of electrical equipments and products.
Collaborate with the segment, sales, service leaders and customers to gather, evaluate voice of customers and other market information to develop the required fit-for-purpose electrical products.
Coordinates the creation of external marketing and internal training content to communicate the value proposition of new service programs as well as competitive strategies to win in the larger marketplace.
Works with services defining, reviewing, approving, and escalating critical RFQs


The Must-Have Requirements:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of experience in technical experience within the electrical space.
Understands the Australian Standards and International Electrotechnical Commission Standards.
Excellent understanding of electrical products and technologies especially in the LV Switchgear components.
Experience in using various designing tools like AutoCAD, Cubic Galaxy, ABB Design tools and etc
Translation of technical features into commercial messaging.
Able to organise and manage resources used in the supply of electrical components, machines, appliances, and equipment.
Good knowledge of the available electrical equipment and product as well as the current trend and the in demand products.
Understanding business basics including revenue projections, business metrics and financial planning, as well as pricing (beneficial).
