A skilled and experienced Food Technologist is sought to join the team at The Coffee Galleria, bringing expertise and innovation to elevate the quality and sustainability of coffee products. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of quality and flavor for which the company is known, while aligning with environmental and sustainability goals.
This position will involve close collaboration with the production team, employing scientific methods to refine coffee processing techniques and ensure that every cup meets premium standards. Key responsibilities will include analyzing and testing the chemical composition of coffee beans, optimizing roasting and processing methods, and conducting research to enhance flavor, texture, and nutritional content.
The Food Technologist will develop quality control and safety protocols specific to coffee products, advise on sustainable packaging and preservation methods, and conduct regular quality assessments. This position will contribute directly to innovations that make The Coffee Galleria’s coffee environmentally responsible while delivering outstanding taste and consistency.
Minimum Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess at least a bachelor’s degree in food technology or a related field and have a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
In this role your main responsibilities include:
• Conduct experiments and tests to determine the chemical composition of coffee beans and improve roasting and flavor profiles.
• Research and develop new techniques to enhance the quality, taste, and texture of coffee, ensuring a consistent, premium product.
• Analyze and test coffee products for flavor, color, texture, and nutritional content to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Understand the requirements of internal stakeholders in their support of customer and consumer needs and align priorities and actions to deliver those customer needs
• Work to refine product feasibility, desirability and viability of new products to ensure greatest chance of commercial success.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures and safety standards, aligning with sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance on sustainable processing, packaging, and storage methods to preserve flavor and minimize environmental impact.
• Liaise directly with suppliers to source materials and stay abreast of industry trends and opportunities
• Lead margin improvement strategies and concepts
• Work with cross-functional teams—customers, marketing, suppliers, and management—to bring innovative products to market.
• Work on continuous improvement projects, reviewing processes, analyzing data and investigation and recommendation
The successful candidate will have a passion for the retail sector, be career focused and have strong management qualities. Other key skills and experience will include:
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the food processing or beverage industry.
• Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for quality and consistency.
• Knowledge of quality control, safety standards, and sustainable processing practices.
• A commitment to provide the highest quality product to strict customer specifications
• Deep understanding of ingredient standards, labelling, and allergen requirements.
• Ensure our ongoing business and product development goals are realised and will have the ability to work well autonomously and within a team environment
• Knowledge of food regulations and safety standards
