About the job…

The role of Assistant Financial Controller provides support for the Financial Controller in the management of the finance department, and ensuring the integrity of the Hotels revenues and transactions.

This position provides a friendly, professional and efficient service which meets all required expectations and Hotel standards.  As Assistant Financial Controller you have a conscientious approach to your work and the desire to be part of a team and make it successful.    

What you’ll be doing:

• Complete the hotels income audit, reviewing daily revenue to ensure all revenue is recorded correctly, all rebates, discounts & complimentary items are substantiated per hotel policy
• Review of the hotels day pack for audit compliance, log any discrepancies & follow up relevant departments
• Review of and importing of daily revenue statistics
• Preparation of bank reconciliations and follow up of any unreconciled items
• Preparation of the daily cashier banking spreadsheet. Monitor & resolve cashier discrepancies, and ensure that deposits are banked efficiently
• Preparation of the miscellaneous revenue spreadsheet to allocate revenue to the correct general ledger accounts
• Preparation of EFT payments
• Support Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Stores with queries and training
• Monitor cash flow, and inform the Financial Controller of any foreseen problems
• Liaise with Department Heads regarding discrepancies of postings and controls, and assist with implementation of operating procedures.
• Provide revenue/statistics reports
• Completion of weekly food COS report and distribution
• Preparation of the weekly hotel forecast report and distribution to department heads
• Upload actual and forecasted revenue into the hotels time and attendance system
• Completion of weekly forecast/payroll meeting presentation, including running the with minutes recorded
• Review the ageing of accounts receivable and assist in collection if necessary
• Review of weekly payment run and set up in the bank for approval
• Review of weekly payroll and set up in the bank for approval
• Attend fortnightly credit meetings

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of client proposals and project plans, identifying dependencies, roles and responsibilities, scope and deliverables
• Prepare project materials including interview guides, data requirements, concepts, frameworks
• Collecting and analyse inputs such as client information, data, processes, policies, competitive and environmental information
• Conduct industry research, drawing on Visa and partner resources as well as colleagues to identify global best practices and distil insights relevant to the client problem at hand
• Create, develop and maintain models, contribute to IP creation and standardised VCA offerings 
• Continuously build knowledge, surface new insights, and contribute to thought leadership pieces 
• Identify solutions and recommendations that address client objectives and result in performance improvement
• Create compelling presentations to illustrate findings, ideas, recommendations within consulting engagements and more broadly

Role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne. This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Your day-to-day...

• Overseeing and guiding the team to ensure that goals and objectives are established, and performance is monitored and optimised.
• Identifying and assessing any changes in our AML/CTF risk profile and raising those matters with the AML/CTF Compliance Officer and Chief Compliance and Regulatory Officer with proposed solutions to mitigate and manage risk.
• Continuous improvement of our programs and procedures by reference to our ML/TF risk assessment, including for example, new or improved controls, improvements to initial and ongoing customer due diligence, or other initiatives designed to reduce ML/TF risk.
• Ensuring resources are allocated and used effectively while balancing efficient workload prioritisation and delivery within agreed time frames.
• Maintaining and updating the AML/CTF Program and Procedures documentation and ensuring changes are adopted and understood by relevant internal AML/CTF team leaders and members.

What you’ll bring...

• You have previously successfully managed a team and have supported broader FCR teams by providing mentoring and training.
• Proven experience in similar roles where you have honed skills in Strategic Analysis, Project Management and Planning of multiples streams of work.
• Strong and effective communication, relationship building, stakeholder analysis, conflict resolution, and change management skills.
• You have a deep understanding of AML/CTF obligations (as they apply to the gambling industry would be very advantageous).
