This role supports the Finance Business Manager in our Issuing Product Domain by providing quality financial advice, modelling, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and other financial functions to support all key strategic projects across Cuscal. 
   
The responsibilities in this role include: 
   
Monthly Reporting: 

• Responsible for full end to end (E2E) accounting for all strategic projects.  

• Steering committee reporting packs for all strategic projects. 

• Presentation of project financial reporting to steering committee members as required.  

• Benefit realisation reporting for all strategic projects on a monthly basis. 

• Preparing and posting project journals as required. 

Forecasting & Budgeting 

• Prepare and maintain project budget / forecast models as required  

• Analysis of inputs, particularly transaction drivers (or similar) 

• Prepare reporting on budget / forecast submissions, including performance against target and variance analysis  

• Monthly reforecasting for strategic projects, both cost and benefits. 

Decision Support: 

• Assistance with preparation of Project Evaluation Models, Project Business Cases and other governance artefacts as required for strategic projects and other projects as required.  

• Build and maintain financial models. 

• Analysis and review of project forecasts and assisting Project Managers with financial analysis of projects.  

• Benefit and contract review for application of accounting standards. 

• Other ad-hoc financial analytical activities as required.  

• Assisting Project Managers and other Project community members with preparation of financial summaries for inclusion in business cases and other project documentation as required. 

   
About You 
In this role within our Project space the role requires the successful candidate to have strong analytical skills and be able to interpret and evaluate data.  You will also bring your strong financial modelling skills to the role along with your ability to understand business objectives and drivers and how they translate into financial measure. 
   
As the successful candidate you will have experience working in a commercial environment and previous experience working on projects. This role is a very visible one within Cuscal so you will get the opportunity to present to and work with key stakeholders.  
   
A relevant university degree will be essential with at least 4 years’ commercial experience and an understanding of resource costing methodologies will be highly regarded.

What this role is about?

The role serves as the principal contact between the Corporate Functions and the central Group Finance function, facilitating effective communication and ensuring alignment between the two.

Here's more of what you’ll work on:

Reporting (Month, HY and FY)

• Performance Monitoring: Review and analyse monthly financial activities for the Corporate Functions, including detailed assessments of month-to-date (MTD) and year-to-date (YTD) performance.
• Dashboard Reporting: Prepare and present monthly performance dashboards, highlighting key metrics, trends, and variances. Ensure reports are clear, accurate, and provide actionable insights.
• Accruals & adjustments: Review and approve accruals or adjustments to ensure that financial statements reflect the true economic condition.
• Insights: Provide meaningful insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive better business performance.

Decision Support

• Partner the Corporate Functions leadership team with financial decision-making by providing relevant data, analysis, and recommendations.
• Build and maintain financial models, e.g. FTE resource model, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and other ad-hoc financial analytical activities as required.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives within the Business Unit Finance team. Focus on enhancing productivity, efficiency, and the overall effectiveness of financial processes.

Forecasting & Budgeting

• Review budget/forecast models for the BU, ensuring they reflect all financial aspects including revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Ensure driver-based assumptions are signed-off by the BU, and offer insights into the status of budget submissions, highlighting areas of opportunities and risks.
• Provide the Corporate Functions with reporting on forecast submissions, including status against target. Offer analysis and insight to support the forecast, helping stakeholders understand the implications of forecasted results.

Team Lead Functions

• Assist and provide guidance to the Finance Business Partner with day-to-day activities
• Review and provide oversight of the team’s workflow and new initiatives.
• Process improvement of team procedures and functions
