About the Role

The Endpoint Engineering team assists companies by supporting their environments day to day and recommending best practises to follow and implement. The team designs, builds, supports, and continuously improves end user solutions end to end, enabling our customers to transform their business and modernise their end user experience. You will problem-solve technical issues for customers to show how these products can make businesses more productive, collaborative, and innovative. As a SOE Engineer you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Customers endpoint systems with minimal direction and engage in project work when they arise. You will have a key focus on ensuring an exceptional customer experience to Datacom’s endpoint customer base.

We place a high degree of focus on developing our staff internally and offer financial incentives for engineers that certify in the technologies we use to support our customers.

This role is open in all our Datacom offices in Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney).

What you will do

As a SOE Engineer, you will be responsible, but not limited to:

• Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager including SCCM and Intune
• Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory – Group Policy Management
• Strong technical knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
• Strong Scripting ability (PowerShell, VBScript, Batch)
• Experience with Windows 10 task sequencing and end point configuration
• Experience with facilitating large and enterprise scale software deployments
• Maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of environment wide configurations including user policies, device policies, security policies, firmware, drivers, and automation scripts through enterprise grade endpoint management platforms (Intune/SCCM)
• 2 years' experience in Citrix Image Management mandatory
• Ensure outstanding levels of customer satisfaction by demonstrating timely, professional, and attentive responses to customers and colleagues
• Operate in, and contribute to the winning culture of a high performing team
• Identify service improvements, efficiencies and/or cost reductions for Datacom customers
• Follow best practice methodologies and adhere to recognised ITIL processes (e.g., change/release).
• Perform upgrades on applicable hardware and operating systems as required/requested
• Provide maintenance and enhancements of deployed desktop operating system images (physical and virtual)
• Assist with projects as required
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in SOE migrations, projects, and implementation
• Provide continuous high-quality upkeep of supporting documentation such as Designs, As-Builts, How-tos, environment reporting, risk registers, tickets, and roadmap lifecycles

What you will bring

You will have 5 years’ IT industry experience, preferably within an IT managed service provider, with approximately 3 years’ experience in a similar SOE Engineer role. You will possess exceptional knowledge of Windows 10, 11. Along with good working knowledge of networking and TCP/IP, AD, DHP, DNS, certificate services and Enterprise applications. You will have exceptional skills in endpoint management platforms, System Centre Configuration Manager, Intune, and Virtual Desktops). You will bring exceptional troubleshooting, customer service, communication, and prioritisation skills; and will be comfortable and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision. You will be comfortable with rapid change and be available to travel to Datacom, customer sites and conferences when required.

We're seeking a Staff Engineer to join us on maximum term contract until end of 2025 to provide technical leadership in a team as they delivery new features for customers and tackle large technical initiatives.

In this role, you'll design, implement, and maintain OUA's web-based systems within a collaborative team environment. You'll work with the product development team to understand requirements and develop customer-centred solutions, ensuring alignment with OUA's technical vision.

You'll also contribute to the implementation of solutions using various programming languages, databases, and cloud technologies. We encourage a highly collaborative team environment, where you'll provide feedback and mentor junior developers.

Here's a glimpse into your day-to-day:

• Involved in designing, coding, testing and deploying software – You’ll be engaged in every aspect of software product development from inception to deployment.
• Helping to lead on complex features – At times you’ll be expected to take the lead on complex product features that might involve collaboration across several teams.
• Supporting production systems and maintaining existing products – As a member of the team you’ll have joint ownership of the support and maintenance of production systems.
• Mentoring others – You’ll be involved in mentoring and coaching other members of the engineering trade.
• Promoting and embedding mature software engineering – You’ll take active ownership of advancing software product engineering at OUA.

If you're ready to make an impact, here's what we're looking for:

• Advanced experience in software development using JavaScript (React.JS, Node.JS, TypeScript), C# or similar.
• Advanced experience in web architecture patterns and conventions, for example micro services, API design, contract testing, containerisation, test automation and serverless architecture. (GraphQL, REST, Asynchronous Events)
• Advanced experience in modern software development techniques such as test-driven development, refactoring, deployment automation and CI/CD.
• Experience with cloud computing services (AWS) and associated technologies
• Creative thinker, able to think creatively through complex problems and discover the best path
• Strong ownership of problems and consultative approach to business partnering
• Able to adapt quickly and manage an environment of rapid change.
• Resilient, flexible and comfortable working with ambiguity.
