Emerald Coaches provides passenger transport services to the school, route, mining and charter markets throughout the greater Emerald area, the Bowen Basin, Mackay and regional Queensland. Our diverse fleet of coaches range in size from 12 to 61 seats and our geographic coverage enables us to effectively service Queensland’s energy and resource rich regions.With a combined skill set, dedication to safety and efficiency, contemporary professional practices, state-wide experience and a growing fleet of over 120 vehicles means we are well equipped to satisfy the most challenging operational requirements.We currently have positions available for Automotive Electricians. Mechanical Engineering Technicians and Diesel Mechanics.
Automotive Electricians - Main Responsibilities:
· Perform Mechanical repairs on buses, trailers, light vehicles and to include major overhauls as directed.
· Plan and implement the Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) for scheduled preventative maintenance.
· Make emergency service calls for stranded buses.
· Record all service work done for vehicle history records.
· Carry out general workshop duties as directed (e.g. driving).
· Report needs for additional service or repairs to vehicles that has been detected during routine inspections. • Isolating and diagnosing electrical faults or issues in computer-based equipment in vehicles.
· Repairing, testing, and maintaining electrical parts and wiring.
· Dismantling and removing components as required.
· Make recommendations to the Workshop Manager for ordering and stocking all necessary repair parts (may also have to do ordering on an ad hoc basis)
· Always observe and maintain a high level of safety and ensure all tools and equipment that are used are safe.
Mechanical Engineering Technicians - Main Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with Workshop Managers to develop detailed designs, schematics, and technical documentation for mechanical components and systems.
· Prioritise works schedules for repairs and maintenance of fleet.
· Ensure equipment is calibrated when needed and file all records.
· Engineering & technical support in the introduction of Zero Emission fleet.
· Place Purchase orders as required.
· Conduct testing and analysis to evaluate the performance and functionality of mechanical systems.
· Conduct various tests and experiments to assess the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems. Record and analyse test data, identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions.
· Provide technical support for troubleshooting mechanical issues in equipment and systems. Assist in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of machinery and mechanical components.
· Ensure that mechanical systems and components meet quality standards and specifications.
· Perform inspections and quality checks at different stages of the manufacturing process.
· Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to mechanical engineering activities. Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
Diesel Mechanics - Main Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical repairs on buses, trailers, and light vehicles, including major overhauls as directed.
• Plan and implement the Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) for scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, and other mechanical system issues.
• Make emergency service calls for stranded buses and provide on-site repairs.
• Record all service work done for vehicle history records.
• Carry out general workshop duties as directed (e.g., driving).
• Report needs for additional service or repairs to vehicles detected during routine inspections.
• Conduct engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, and other routine maintenance tasks.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workshop.
• Make recommendations to the Workshop Manager for ordering and stocking all necessary repair parts.
• Participate in training and development programs to keep skills current with evolving technologies.
• Comply with all company procedures, including OH&S procedures.
Qualifications and experience for all Applicants:
· Suitable certification or relevant experience.
· Bus, Truck or Trailer experience preferable or mechanical knowledge including mechanic-electrical systems, and their diverse components is beneficial.
· Preferred experience within a fleet management role or working with a variety of vehicles.
· Valid HR Licence and 'C' class driver's licence
· Previous experience in vehicle service workshops.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Skills:
· Ability to operate public transport vehicles in a safe manner.
· Ability to deal with customer situations and resolve issues.
· Mechanical aptitude and flexibility.
· Acceptable experience in the repair and preventative maintenance of heavy equipment.
· Experience in the Heavy Vehicle industry.
· Able to read electrical schematics, good diagnostic ability.
