The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Technical Officer in our Hot Strip Mill (HSM) team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

Reporting into the Hot Strip Mill Asset Manager, in this role you will operate within a multi-skilled team focusing on the delivery of sustained improvement in process uptime and unit cost reduction to our HSM plant assets. To ensure operational productivity and asset improvement targets are achieved, you will bring an integrated and comprehensive approach to elimination of defects, identifying and leading improvement projects, coaching team members while minimising risk to the business.

What Will You Do?

Lead and supporting the team to deliver on equipment reliability targets and asset performance, you will:

• provide day to day electrical technical support, advanced problem-solving and fault-finding.
• analyse plant and equipment performance data for patterns and ensure recurring problems are resolved and effective solutions are institutionalised using Root Cause Analysis approaches with a focus on failure elimination 
• Support the day to day management of plant maintenance activities, including the planning, organising, safe execution of maintenance and  the shutdown and commissioning of plant
• coach & mentor maintenance team members by identifying and closing technical knowledge gaps
• identify and implementing equipment reliability and cost improvement projects
• build effective relationships to drive the continuous improvement in the reliability of our HSM assets

 More About You

You will hold a diploma or degree qualification in Electrical Engineering combined with suitable experience in relevant maintenance within manufacturing or heavy industry. As a result, you will have:

• tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
• Electrical supervisor licence.
• a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team and others
• experience working in a similar industry within Electrical Maintenance, with a strong focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability  
• experience with fault finding PLCs and motor control systems 
• the ability to work both independently and as part of a manufacturing team, to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements, scheduling and people demands

• Conduct holistic assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage transitions in care
• Participate in case reviews, care planning, and integrated treatment delivery, working collaboratively with other care agencies, educators, and interagency networks
• Develop and deliver culturally appropriate services, fostering strong relationships with health and welfare agencies and the wider community
• Engage in continuous quality improvement activities to enhance service provision and outcomes for children and young people

EACH is the Lead Agency of the Therapeutic Alliance (TA), a consortium of community based, not-for-profit organizations who provide mental health services across the North Coast of NSW through a multidisciplinary, person centered, hub-and-spoke model of care. 

The alliance offers a range of services under the Primary Mental Health Program (PMHP), including Healthy Minds, the Mental Health Nursing Incentive Program, Youth Enhanced Services (YES), Suicide Prevention, Counselling Support, and Low Intensity Mental Health programs.

About you
We are looking for a motivated professional with:

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, or a related discipline
• A minimum of four years’ experience working with children, young people, and families, including those facing moderate to high acuity mental health issues 
• Expertise in mental health therapeutic approaches (e.g., DBT, ACT) and a solid understanding of trauma’s impact on mental health
• Competency in mental state examination, crisis and risk assessment, and aftercare planning
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment to achieve program goals
• Demonstrated excellence in applying relevant theories and practices in youth mental health
