• Project Leadership: Provide leadership and direction for the data center construction and fitout project.
• Client Representation: Act as the primary point of contact for all client-side matters, advocating for our needs and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Scope & Schedule Management: Develop and manage a comprehensive project scope document (PSD) and a detailed project schedule, proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could impact timelines.
• Budget Control: Maintain a strict budget and track all project expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
• Contract Administration: Oversee all construction and fitout contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
• Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Implement a robust QA/QC program to guarantee the project meets all data center industry standards and best practices.
• Communication & Reporting: Maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders, providing regular progress reports and updates.

Who you are

You are a voracious learner, and you love building things. You do not shy away from taking on the impossible. You apply these principles to all parts of science and engineering and are excited to operate at the forefront of technology, gaining hands on experience in research & development across all stages of a product lifecycle.

It’s ok if you don’t have all the skills yet to build a quantum sensor, because you want to work with a global team of experts to fill in the gaps. You may have come from a large corporation or be fresh out of university but the idea of working in a fast-paced, highly iterative, and integrated team is exciting.

Your role

Working hand in     

You will be engaged daily in tasks like:

• Design, develop and test mechanical components and systems for our quantum sensor products
• Conduct testing and analysis to ensure that mechanical components meet performance and reliability requirements
• Use 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) to create detailed design drawings and specifications
• Work closely with physicists, electronic and software engineers, to integrate mechanical components into the overall system design

• Collaborate within the mechanical engineering team to participate with design reviews and idea generation
• Maintain part and assemblies within product life cycle (PLM) systems
• Work with external suppliers to build and maintain relationships to push the innovation of our products
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure that designs can be produced at scale
• Maintain a safe and organized lab/machine shop environment
• Assist with the maintenance of deployed sensors

It’s not about specifically where you have come from nor what qualifications you have. What truly matters is that you are an impossibly fast learner. The types of things people applying for this role have done prior to Nomad are things like:

• B.Sc or M.Sc in mechanical, aerospace, mechatronics engineering or related field
• Ideally 1 to 3 years of experience designing and prototyping precision mechanical systems
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software
• Experience designing for a range of manufacturing technics including CNC machined parts
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools
• Ideally, experience designing flexure components and optomechanical systems
• Ideally, experience designing system that tightly integrate electrical components
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working in a small cross-functional teams
• Highly initiative with an ability to work both independently and within collaborative team
• Ability to be hands on for manufacturing & assembling of jigs, prototypes & products

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Scientist / Engineer to join our Environmental Team based in Melbourne. In this role, you will assist with fieldwork, report writing and project management of multiple concurrent contamination investigations and remediation projects.

What will a day in this role look like:

• Work autonomously on preliminary and detailed site investigations and site validation reports.
• Plan, manage and supervise field work activities across a range of projects including acting in Principal Contractor supervisor roles
• Use your technical knowledge and prior experience to manage projects independently.
• Liaise with clients and sub-contractors on site working on projects across the Defence, Oil & Gas, Transport, Mining, Water and Energy sectors.
• Work on a variety of projects throughout the full project lifecycle including assisting technical leaders and senior advisors with bids and tenders.
• Relevant experience (ideally 2 - 4 years) in a consultancy environment, or related industry specifically in contaminated land assessment and remediation.
