The Opportunity
Come and discover how COLORBOND® steel is produced, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Metal Coating Department at our Springhill Manufacturing facility as a Process Technical Engineer. As part of the broader Manufacturing Portfolio at our Port Kembla steelworks, we have facilities including Springhill, where we produce COLORBOND® steel and other products for our customers.
The Metal Coating Lines (MCL) manufactures and supplies metal coated products for building, pre-painted, distribution and manufacturing applications. As the Process Technical Engineer, you’ll provide technical support to the ZINCALUME® lines and services, by overseeing the product quality and output, and ensuring they meet customer requirements.
In this essential role, you will grow and develop both technically and as a leader, focusing on working closely with the shift teams on the continuous production, reliability and quality of our products. What Will You Do?
Working closely with operators and Process Leaders to manage product output, whilst building effective relationships, both internally and externally, you will:
- support product quality through process improvements and ensuring product standards
- foster teamwork between shift operations, technical, process development and maintenance
- coordinate development strategies for improved process control
- provide technical support on MCL ZINCALUME® lines and striving for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
- coach, mentor and develop the team to enhance capabilities
More About You
With your technical experience and ability to make calculated decisions while working in a fast-paced environment, you will bring:
- tertiary qualifications in engineering (ie. Chemical, materials, mechanical etc.)
- experience working in a similar heavy industry - operational, process, or technical environment
- a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
- a high level of process analysis skills and the ability to interpret this into technical solutions
- an ability to coordinate technical projects and work seamlessly with other departments to influence outcomes
