MGL Reinforcement are seeking a skilled and versatile Carpenter – All Rounder to join the MGL Reinforcement team. This role is based at various sites across the Perth metropolitan area and requires expertise in carpentry and formwork. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of construction techniques, an eye for detail, and the ability to deliver superior results across diverse projects.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess an AQF Certificate IV in a relevant field. However, candidates with at least three years of relevant work experience may substitute formal qualifications. Additionally, a minimum of two years of professional carpentry experience is essential to succeed in this role.
What you will be responsible for:
• Study and interpret drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
• Execute quality carpentry workmanship to the highest level, whilst maintaining our company standards and safety
• Order and select appropriate timbers, materials, and tools while preparing layouts.
• Cut materials and assemble, nail, or secure cut and shaped parts to construct structures.
• Erect framework, panelized systems, and roof framing; lay sub-flooring and floorboards; and verify trueness of structures.
• Nail fascia panels, sheathe roofs, and fit exterior wall cladding and door/window frames.
• Interpret plans/engineering and project specifications to meet exacting standards
• Construct and repair structural woodwork and equipment from blueprints and oral instructions
• Assemble prepared wood into structures and fittings, ensuring readiness for installation.
• Cut wood joints and construct concrete formwork for various structural components.
• Repair and refurbish existing fittings to maintain or enhance their functionality.
• Work with diverse materials, including plastic laminates, perspex, and metals, as required.
• Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and site managers to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Skills, experience and attributes:
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in handling various carpentry tools and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in measuring and cutting materials.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and adherence to safe work practices.
• Effective problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges promptly.
• Strong physical fitness and stamina for performing manual tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
The Successful Applicant
You would be required to work in a team environment and would be expected to take on a variety of tasks. You would be required to work at times under pressure and timelines and be available to work in different areas if and when the need arises. The applicant must have an OHS white card and previous experience, preferably in the construction industry.
